Water Services

bge Environmental Services Group (bge) has a team of highly qualified water service professionals with over 50 years combined water-related experience. Through strategic business alliances, bge has created a water team versed in every aspect of regulatory compliance relating to water quality. Whether it is providing general compliance and permitting assistance, evaluating and improving operation of industrial facilities or municipal treatment works, or developing and implementing water conservation, wetlands delineation or pollution control plans, our team of professionals are prepared to complete the task.

Our team excels in the preparation of wastewater permit applications and negotiations of permit limitations for industrial facilities and municipal treatment plants. Our team members have cultivated close working relationships with the TCEQ wastewater and stormwater permitting staff and have developed and implemented creative solutions to effectively resolve difficult wastewater and stormwater management issues for our clients. bge team members have also prepared monthly effluent reports, developed management and operational plans, and handled other various reporting and record keeping requirements. Our team understands the impact the permit applications will have on our clients' operations. In addition, bge's team of scientists and engineers have strong inplant experience with extensive knowledge of biological and chemical wastewater treatment processes and operations. As a result we can readily assist in treatment optimization for a variety of systems.

Stormwater discharge permits (either multi-sector general permits or individual permits) are required of all industrial facilities discharging to surface waters that do not qualify for the no-exposure exemption. Most municipalities are also required to obtain stormwater discharge permits under NPDES Phase II requirements. Part of the stormwater permitting process involves developing and following a site-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. A balance needs to be achieved between limiting large expenditures while still making good faith efforts at controlling run-off. bge team members believe a "bottom-up" approach in which potential pollutants are controlled at the source versus managing large volumes of potentially impacted run-off is a sound first-step to achieving this balance.

Our team of professionals are also experienced in permitting water utilities for operation in the state of Texas by obtaining Certificates of Convenience and Necessity (CNNs), developing water conservation and drought contingency plans, and preparing drinking water Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs) as required by the 1996 amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act. Our team members have successfully assisted several municipal and industrial clients in the development and implementation of strategies for recycling or reusing treated effluent and reducing or eliminating the use of potable water for non-potable uses.
